Would you sell yourself for fame?

Last weekend’s Fetish Expo went well. Or, at least, the fashion segment did, much of my day was spent between hair, makeup and dressing, leaving very little time to explore the rest of the event until after that modelling business was all wrapped up- by which time many of the vendors were beginning to pack their wares away. So I can’t really comment on the rest of the event. At least… not without a good deal of lies and embellishment.

A sad turn of events indeed, being that I’d spent the preceeding week loudly proclaiming the vast quantity of dicks I was planning on purchasing, only to return home empty handed.

Setting fire to the sky.

On an overcast afternoon in January a group of about eight students, two assistants, two models, and one teacher took over a quiet local park for a costume photography workshop hosted by local friend and photographer Neil Creek.

Being that I’d managed to get Oberon’s trousers finished prior to the class it seemed like as good a time as any to field test them, albeit with a stronger goat flavouring.

The goat was modelling alongside Asuna Yuuki of Sword Art Online (beautifully portrayed by the talented Mimico Cosplay).

Fantasy costumes lent themselves well to the setting, and the two different styles gave the students plenty to work with.

Dress me, I’m your mannequin.

It is a delight to inform you that the recent MAD Fashion Showcase went well! Extra special thanks going out to:

  • Von Chibi for offering me the opportunity to display some of her amazing work!
  • Cherry Pie Millinery as much for her breathtaking headpieces as for her ability to fasten one to my hair (or rather, lack thereof).
  • Emily Rose and her assistant for working their stunning hair and make-up magic.
  • The St. Kilda town hall for hosting the event.
  • The many hours of hard work put in by staff, volunteers, photographers, artists, designers, and performers who came together ensure the event could run as smoothly as possible.
  • Not to mention the support of the many attendees!

You’ll have to watch me struggle from several rooms away.

It was my birthday a few weeks back, has it been long enough that nobody expects me to organise anything? Yes? Good.

If anybody asks: I’m still 14.

Heck, after the amount of Yu-Gi-Oh I’ve been watching recently I’ve got to say, actual 14 year old me would be super proud of the fact that I generally dress like I’m on my way to duel Seto Kaiba.

Just as soon as my henchmen kidnap Mokuba.
While I’m willing to admit that the whole belt-phase and some of the sillier things my hair has experienced over the years were not uninspired by Kazuki Takahashi’s character designs; it’s been 10 years since I last watched this nonsense-
My eyeliner has a lot of explaining to do.
Or maybe I just shouldn’t keep that huge Yami Yugi poster in the same room as my make-up…?

It’s all in the impractically tight pants, friends. It’s all in the pants. Commit to the tight pants.
Sitting down is no longer an option.

Holy shit this is so off-topic, I'm sorry.
Why yes, my body is ready for The Dark Side of Dimensions, how could you tell?

But unfortunately the nuanced complexities of the affectionate interdependence fostered between the Kaiba brothers is not the point of today’s entry. As fascinating as their relationship* is.

Leaving us to ourselves but not exactly alone.

No time to unwind after returning home from the brief holiday last week, I had 3 days of work to catch up on, weekend plans to rearrange, and a convention to prepare costumes for.

Last year was the final Manifest. It felt sudden to me, but who knows how long the staff had been considering shutting it down? At this point though, that’s all old news. Many attendees of Manifest had speculated that perhaps something else would kick off to fill the void.

This was not an incorrect speculation to make.

Maybe we could find new ways to fall apart?

It was a busy weekend.

Finally got a new bed. The details of the situation are complicated and boring but I promise you this was so far overdue it wasn’t even funny any more. Sleeping is hard.

But that is not important.

On Sunday it was Golden Owl Events annual Wintervalk parade.

Costume events are definitely my jam, but so often I find myself somewhere between too busy or too socially awkward to attend. This passed weekend that was not the case. Hallward happened to be going and graciously offered to drive, so I figured it was a good excuse to bust out the goat from New Year.

For the record: I was right.
